HOPE

What Is Hope?

Hope is a small four letter word that is very common in our everyday vocabulary.  We use this word so much that we really don't consider how big, powerful and important it is for our survival.  When we narrow the meaning of hope down to something like a nice birthday present, a new car, or any type of surprise or benefit, we do an injustice.  Hope is life changing!  Hope is spiritual! Hope is inevitable!

"Hope is an emotional state of mind...  It is the expectation that things will get better."

Hope in actuality is a feeling, or an emotional state of mind for a certain desire to happen.  It is the expectation that things will get better, especially when the thing that's so valuable to you seems impossible to maintain. Hope is a force that everyone needs during times of devastation.  When you have nothing else to hold onto, when everything that you have cherished is gone or at risk of being taken away, it becomes inevitable for you to hold onto hope.

Hope is very powerful; it can cause a person to develop optimism over their negative circumstances in order for them to change their outlook and physical response to the negativity that is before them. Essentially, in order for a person to have hope, they must first change their thought process.  Often when trouble arises, our thoughts become distorted and we began to think irrationally. This will cause us to develop depression, and if we keep this frame of mind, we will eventually be in danger of losing hope.

It would be remiss to say that holding onto hope is an easy process.  However, your survival, your life, and your sanity are contingent upon you holding onto hope...  For when you have nothing else to do, hold onto to hope.  When you let go of hope, you have given up, and God has too much in store for you, for you to give up now.
